System Performance Calibration

The Stereo Workstation can be operated in a Calibrate Mode where various calibration signals are generated. Signals such as square wave, triangle wave, continuous sine wave, transient sine wave burst, multi-tone sine wave, and periodic impulse can be selected. The Oscilloscope and Spectrum Analyzer are used to examine the performance of the system for any Track Adjustment, Baseline Adjustment, or combination of both Adjustments. The calibration signals allow analysis of the steady state performance as well as the transient performance of the Workstation.

The image below shows a transient 1050 Hz sine wave with absolute flat response for Baseline and for Track Graph.

The following image shows a Track Graph that is is peaked up to about +9dB at around 1050Hz:

The following image shows the peaked transient sine wave response that results:

The following image shows a 75 Hz square wave with absolute flat response selected for Baseline and for Track Graph.

The following image shows a Track Graph with a little high frequency emphasis and a lot of low frequency roll-off.

The following image shows the effect this has on the square wave.
