Adaptive Volume
is an evolution of the old Analog Dynamic Range Compression and Expansion
concept. Setting Adaptive Volume is similar to setting the normal Volume except that
Adaptive Volume should only be set during the loud parts of the Music. The figure below shows the Adaptive Volume Adjust screen:
You simply set the
Adaptive Volume to bring the Music back to the desired level. The Workstation will now
continuously monitor the Music level and adaptively adjust the volume for you
such that loud passages are attenuated and the softer passages are largely
unaffected. The Adaptive Volume compression is slow and smooth and exhibits none of the
pumping or rushing effects associated with the old Analog Dynamic Range
Compressors. The Fine and Course Adjust operation is the same as described in the Volume Balance Adjustment section.
Note that the Adaptive Volume
Control has a Speed parameter that can be adjusted to faster settings that will
provide full Dynamic Range Compression and Expansion in the classic sense. The figure below shows the Adaptive Speed Adjust screen:
A
unique Adaptive Volume Adjustment can be saved for each Track on every Disc and each Music file. |
